LAS VEGAS - NakedSword announced to AVN Online on Thursday that it will reveal its plans for the year at its "Press Conference Cocktail Party" on Monday, Jan. 14, during Internext Las Vegas.
The party will be held in the Kingpin Suite of the Palms Casino Resort during the "Fantasy Suite Block Party."
The company will present its slate of upcoming productions and co-productions, including movies co-financed with major studios, partnerships with online producers, and affiliate tools and tricks.
"Our goal here is twofold: to be involved with some of the biggest hardcore productions of the year, but also to create softcore content about the gay-porn industry that can transcend ... adult-themed, not-safe-for-work distribution channels," said Michael Stabile, NakedSword creative director and editor of The Sword.
Stabile said The Sword is an "important part" of the second goal.
"We want to celebritize porn stars and their lives and loves in the same way that ... Vanity Fair or Entertainment Weekly does for mainstream Hollywood," he said. "We also want to tackle gay culture from a pro-sex, pro-porn angle. Since the 1990s, gay culture has been mired in goals like gay marriage and inclusion in the military, sacrificing sexual freedom for acceptance. This bores us, and we want to re-approach gay culture in a way that makes sense to sexually active gay men."
The Sword launch in December was a success as it featured news and feature articles including, "Can You Match the Porn Star with their MySpace Music Selection?", National Press Club Hosts Blue Movie, and The Worst in Gay Marketing: Bud Light.
Among the announcements to be made is NakedSword's recent partnership with Raging Stallion to co-produce GRUNTS, the studio's biggest production ever.
NakedSword also is working with partners such as Kink.com, Dirty Boy Video, 92.7 Energy, Unzipped magazine, TLA Video and several major gay-porn studios to help create and distribute online featurettes, including behind-the-scenes videos, exclusive interviews and gay-specific content.
