NakedSword, Top Studios Raise Money for Charities

NakedSword, a leading gay video-on-demand site, and its studio partners Channel 1 Releasing, Falcon Entertainment, Hot House, Lucas Entertainment, Raging Stallion, All Worlds Video, and Studio 2000 donated in excess of $11,000 to five local and national charities including the Free Speech Coalition. The monies were awarded on Saturday, March 24, during a check-presentation ceremony at San Francisco's Magnet Center for Men's Health. The fund-raiser was held in February during NakedSword's massive after-party following this year's GAYVN Awards.

"These studios proved that supporting the gay and adult communities is just as crucial as producing movies," said NakedSword Chief Executive Officer Tim Valenti. "We wanted to celebrate their accomplishments while helping benefit people in need. It's crucial that we all band together at a time when the adult industry is under increased scrutiny." In addition to the FSC (for which Valenti sits on the board), charities benefiting from the fund-raiser included Magnet SF, the St. James Infirmary, STOP AIDS, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Sister Roma of the "Tim and Roma Show" joined fellow Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Sister Edith Myflesh and Sister Anni Coque l'Doo to hand out the checks at an a presentation ceremony in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood. Sister Edith, current Abbess of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and NakedSword employee, was excited to host the event.

"I was very pleased to be able to combine my secular and 'sisterly' lives," she told TimAndRomaBlog, the official blog of NakedSword and the "Tim and Roma Show." "The generosity of these studios makes me very proud to work in the gay porn industry. This shows the industry's detractors that we really do take care of our own."

Sister Edith reiterated Valenti's praise, pointing out that many of these studios are extremely active in the community, generously donating their time and money throughout the year.

In 2006, the Sisters brought in more than $160,000 for various charities and foundations, and the group hopes to top that amount by the end of 2007.

NakedSword has been a top gay adult VOD provider since 1997. After a recent merger with AEBN in January 2007, it is now the largest gay VOD brand in the world, reaching more than 90 percent of the VOD market.
