MySpace Launches Video Filter

MySpace has introduced new technology called Take Down, Stay Down which will prevent members from reposting videos that previously have been removed for copyright reasons.

Content owners long have complained that members of services like YouTube and MySpace simply repost videos that they have demanded be taken down, resulting in an endless cat-and-mouse game they rarely win.

The Take Down, Stay Down feature creates a digital fingerprint of any video that has been taken down at a copyright holder’s request. It then places the fingerprint into a filter that will block any other user from uploading the same video in the future.

The digital fingerprinting and filtering technology used for the service is provided by Audible Magic.
