MovieQuickie.com Put Up for Sale

LOS ANGELES - Adult pay-per-scene site MovieQuickie.com is up for sale, the site's owners said Thursday.

"We are selling all of our assets, including our servers, the [video-on-demand] license, which is licensed through Red Apple Media, as well as the contracts with the studios and the content," co-owner Kory Kupiszewski told AVN Online.

Kupiszewski said purchasing MovieQuickie.com presents a wonderful opportunity for expansion because it is a fully turnkey operation with instant revenue and a great domain name.

"The site is a pay-per-scene shopping system, not pay-per-minute, so we offer something a little more unique," he said. "The movies are fully protected with [digital rights management] and has a powerful server-based security program. Currently, the pricing model is only $1.99 for a seven-day rental of a scene or $3.99 to own that scene for life. It gives people a better incentive than recurring billing.

"I was also going to offer a monthly unlimited billing service, so if a customer logs on and pays $30 a month, it is like a Netflix account: They can log on and view an amount of videos per month."

MovieQuickie features about 500 movies. Kupiszewski said the site's Adam and Eve films are getting a lot of traffic, and its higher-end movies are receiving a lot of conversions.

Epoch is the site's billing provider, and the site has an MPA3 affiliate system.

Kupiszewski said he is selling MovieQuickie to focus on his video-encoding business, Digi Web Encoding.

"Our focus is changing from a provider of products to retail customers to a provider of services for studios," he said. "While building the VOD site, we realized that there was also a need for encoding, project management, consulting and photography. We had to choose one or the other, and, though MovieQuickie is a great site, we have chosen to be a business partner with studios instead of being a VOD provider to retail customers."

Kupiszewski is offering a temporary demonstration of MovieQuickie.com to prospective purchasers.
