LOS ANGELES - Premier domain Porn.mobi will be up for bids at Moniker's T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West live auction Feb. 20 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
Dublin, Ireland-based consortium dotMobi will sell Porn.mobi alongside other domains.
"Moniker is thrilled to bring many premium dotMobi domain names to the auction block at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West, including Porn.mobi and Naked.mobi," Moniker President Monte Cahn told AVN Online.
Cahn predicted that Porn.mobi will offer its owner countless
development opportunities and the possibility of creating the premier mobile
site for adult entertainment.
"Many people in the room will be watching this domain, from both the online
adult industry to the traditional domainers," he said. "We were fortunate to
broker the sale of Porn.com in 2007 for $9.5 million and anticipate that
Porn.mobi could potentially be the largest dotMobi sale ever."
The money dotMobi raises during the auction will go toward applications the company provides for researching mobile compatibility.
"Since the launch of smart phones, like the iPhone and Blackberry, we have anticipated the online adult industry to boom," Cahn said. "People have a close personal relationship with their mobile phones, and adult content on mobile is expected to reach $3.5 billion globally by 2010."
