REDMOND, Wash.—Microsoft will issue security updates next Tuesday that will include patches for holes found in its DirectX functionality.
As CNET reports, Microsoft announced attacks against DirectX vulnerability in May, revealing that a hacker could possibly take control of a computer using a malicious Quicktime file.
More recently, some Windows and Windows Server users were warned of attacks exploiting a hole in the Video ActiveX Control for Internet Explorer. While Microsoft still has yet to issue a patch for that problem, it has offered workaround solutions.
According to The Register, Microsoft knew of the ActiveX problem as long ago as 12 months before attacks began.
On its security bulletin page, Microsoft said it will host a webcast 11 a.m. Pacific Time on July 15 to address customer questions on security bulletins. Registration for the webcast is required, though it will later be available on demand.
