McGowan, South, McAnally to Speak at Frolicon

Over the upcoming Easter holiday weekend, EyeOnAdult Senior Editor Scott McGowan and industry veterans Mike South and Jim "GonZo" McAnally will take their show on the road, offering seminars about the adult entertainment industry at Atlanta, Ga.'s, popular adults-only arts convention, Frolicon.

Now in its second year, Frolicon bills itself as "a science-fiction convention with a twist." The event caters mostly to those with an interest in erotic arts, BDSM, swinging, and other related subjects intended strictly for patrons 21 years of age and older. People from all walks of life and all over the southeastern U.S. attend the four-day event to engage in general revelry (hence the name Frolicon), competitions, and educational programming, according to event organizers.

"Frolicon is a natural fit for what we're doing here," said McGowan, the panels' creator and moderator. "This event is heavily attended by folks who are already dabbling in the adult industry in one form or another: webcam models, fetish performers, photographers, erotic fiction writers, and consumers of various adult-oriented products can all be found at this event. Not all of them do these things as a profession or even as a for-profit side business, but all of these people deserve practical and realistic information about all forms of erotic expression, and that's exactly what we'll be bringing to the auditorium."

For South, an AVN Award-winning director of adult videos and noted industry blogger, the panels serve as an opportunity to set the record straight.

"I'm doing this to clear up the misconceptions people have about the business—and particularly how to get into it," South said.

On the panels themselves, South will concentrate on tech suggestions for photographers and webmasters as well as legal and personal concerns for adult workers.

McAnally, the prolific webmaster who helms various free and membership adult websites told AVNOnline.com, "These panels will be insightful if you're at all curious about the adult industry and invaluable if you're looking to find an angle for profit."

McAnally will speak about various topics including the basics of adult webmaster techniques and how commerce in the adult marketplace works.

Rounding out the panel's guests will be Scott Jones of Electronic Frontiers Georgia who will discuss non-commercial self-publishing issues along with Mandy and Tony, the husband-wife team behind MandysPlayhouse.

The panels, entitled "So, Ya Wanna Make Porn: An Introductory Tutorial"and "Adult Entertainment and Technology: A Lusty Liaison" will take place Friday, April 6 (Good Friday), and Saturday, April 7, at the Atlanta Hilton Northeast. Pre-registration is closed, but interested parties may purchase tickets on-site during event hours. Both panels are sponsored by the adult networking website XPeeps.
