WEST HOLLYWOOD—By 10 p.m. Tuesday night, the Key Club on the Sunset Strip was beginning to fill up with porn fans and supporters of Matt's Models, the now-10-year-old website featuring almost 1,000 amateur gals posing nude, masturbating and engaging in girl/girl and boy/girl hook-ups, all captured by adult industry vet Matt Frackas.
While a video of still shots and behind-the-scenes footage (labeled "House of Frackas") played on the club's overhead monitor, more than a dozen models roamed the club floor along with Frackas himself, welcoming such attendees and fans as returning porn star Chasey Lain, mainstream filmmaker Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City)—look for his new Showtime series "Look" in mid-2010—and musician/adult director Dave Navarro. Veteran actor Ron Jeremy was expected to attend later because, "He's a great and loyal friend. He'll probably be here a little late, but he definitely said he'd get up on stage and talk," Frackas told AVN.
Ten years is way old by internet standards for a successful adult site, but Frackas has succeeded largely because he retains the same vision he had when he inaugurated the site back in October, 1999.
"My niche at the time was undiscovered amateur girls," he said. "I used to put ads out for 18- to 24-year-old girls, all natural, limited tattoos and piercings if possible; just more the girl-next-door niche. These days, they're a lot harder to find, partly for the reason that young people have sort of wised up to internet porn. They know that if they take like a cell phone shot or any other kind of shot, it's going to end up on the internet and somebody's going to see it and their family's going to see it."
"When I first started, you know, people were less worried about that," he continued. "They thought they could just get lost in the maze, and for the most part, it was true back then, but now we have tube sites and everything else and everybody's sharing all this information and everybody knows exactly where to find it. You can Google anything, so the awareness is so much larger now that it is harder to find girls—and if they're doing it, they might just be trying to do it themselves with their own site, because they know how to do their own web design, their own HTML, and they might do their own webcam from home, so there's not as much of a reason for them to come to work for a company like me."
But the site remains successful, even if revenues have been down somewhat because of the recession, and Frackas wanted to throw this party just to say "thank you" to all his loyal fans.
To add to the fun, Frakas arranged for several musicians to entertain the crowd, including folk/blues guitarist Sean Cromwell, Porno For Pyros founder Peter Distefano and rock band The Blue Kind. Also, beginning at midnight was to be Frakas' "Pasties and Panties" contest, with the audience judging which gal modeled her undies the best. Best of show was taken by Betty Hana, with Heidi Hanson scoring second place.
Other party attendees included Camryn Cross, Chelci Fox, Elexis Monroe, Tessa Taylor, Gracie Glam, Allie Haze, Magdalene St. Michaels, Jamie Elle, Faye Reagan, Georgia Jones and Charlotte Vale.
The festivities were over at about 2 a.m., and we're guessing a good time was had by all.
