CYBERSPACE—Building on the November debut of its 3D VOD channel in Europe, adult producer Marc Dorcel has announced that it will now be offering 3D video downloads without DRM, available on a number of platforms.
Dorcel’s 3D SVOD was rolled out with the French operator Free, and offered users videos especially designed for 3D, produced with the newest recording technologies (3D cameras, side by side and full HD). 3D productions are produced jointly with the French company 3DLIZED.
Videos are available on three formats: Windows Media, DivX and MPEG H264 in Side-by-Side without DRM. Users can watch videos according to their equipment (PC or 3D TV set).
The 3D videos are also available on Free (France), Numericable (France and Belgium), n (Poland) and Sky (Italy). Marc Dorcel said it hopes to add other French and European operators.
As reported in November by AVN, Dorcel's 3D work has been produced under the auspices of French company 3DLized, which is currently involved in mainstream promotion of its service by placing video ads starring its animated character "Fitou" in French movie theaters. Some examples of 3DLized's anaglyph work can be found here and here.
There are apparently no immediate plans to make Dorcel’s 3D content available on DVD in the United States, where the company’s video offerings are distributed by Wicked Pictures.
