On Internet messaging service ICQ, an adult webmaster allegedly wrote an AVN Online editor, instructing the editor to download an executable file, which turned out to be a Trojan horse containing malware.
This was the first time, according to AVNOnline.com's research, an adult webmaster was targeted for distribution of malware, software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's consent.
The seemingly innocuous IM allegedly came from Kevin, an adult webmaster at Medium Pimpin. Kevin, however, said he had no knowledge of the IM.
After investigating the matter further, Kevin told AVNOnline.com the malware, embedded in a file labeled http://www.adultwebmasterland.com/traff_check.exe, came from AdultWebmasterLand.
"Looks like once you run it, it [is sent] to all on your ICQ list," said Kevin. Apparently, the Trojan gained access to his ICQ account and obtained the authority to use his ICQ account for distribution of the infected file.
On Medium Pimpin's adult webmaster board, the question was asked if anyone else had received a similar IM from AdultWebmasterLand, and a number of adult webmasters reported they indeed had received similar IMs that contained the file.
AdultWebmasterLand did not respond to requests for comment.
