CHATSWORTH, Calif. - MJ McMahon has been promoted to publisher of AVN Online.
He previously served as co-publisher with Farley Cahen, who stepped aside to concentrate on his current position as director of licensing for AVN Media Network.
McMahon has been at AVN Media Network for three years, starting as an associate editor of AVN Online. He was named an associate publisher in March 2007 before becoming co-publisher.
"Early on, MJ had the vision to turn [AVN] Online into a premier new-media publication," said Darren Roberts, CEO of AVN Media Network. "He plays an active role in the adult-entertainment industry and knows what motivates and excites his audience."
McMahon has overseen AVN Online's complete redesign for enhanced readability and a more contemporary look and feel. He also has introduced a series of trade-show dailies and helped increase AVN Online's presence in the marketplace.
"We have some amazing plans for 2008, and I look forward to strengthening AVN Online's position as the top trade journal in the adult online marketplace," McMahon said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to move this publication forward."
AVN Online also has a new editor, Sherri L. Shaulis, who brings a wealth of experience to the publication. Formerly the editor in chief at Gold Country Media and a reporter for The Vindicator (Youngstown, Ohio), Shaulis has an extensive news-reporting background. She also wrote entertainment content for LifeOnTheNet.com and has taught at West Virginia University.
