SAN FRANCISCO - Fetish site Kink.com announced on Tuesday that all future members-only downloads in its network will be released in high-definition 720p.
The new content, offered in the WMV and MPEG formats, is roughly 50 percent higher in vertical lines of resolution and features significantly improved image quality with only a small increase in download times, the company said.
"Kink has been releasing in high-definition for two years, so the content was already about the best available," said Nicole Aptekar, Kink.com's encoding engineer. "But this takes it to a whole new level.
"Over the next few months, we'll be re-encoding all our high-def releases in the new format. We'll also be re-encoding our standard-definition content in what's called 480p. We'll get them to the highest quality possible, almost like they're right off the tape. It'll look good on an iPod. It'll look good on an iPhone, a Zune, an Archos - just about any mobile device."
"The improvement is definitely noticeable on any good monitor," said John Sander, Kink.com's director of marketing. "Videophiles will be impressed."
Kink's new format premiered Tuesday in members-only releases of original scenes from TSSeduction.com, Hogtied.com and UltimateSurrender.com.
During the remainder of this week, the company will make releases from FuckingMachines.com, WhippedAss.com, WiredPussy.com, MeninPain.com, WaterBondage.com, SexAndSubmission.com, DeviceBondage.com and Kink's documentary series BehindKink.com.
