Kink.com Courts Controversy with ‘Deception’ Trailer

SAN FRANCISCO—Terror and titillation can be combined into a potent mix in mainstream movies. But add hardcore sex, and things can get too intense. Just consider Kink.com—an adult entertainment producer that's been accused by porn-bashing Gail Dines of violating the UN Convention Against Torture.

But rather than shying away from the controversy, Kink.com is leaning in with a new project. Today it announced the release of an advance trailer for Deception, a full-length feature that combines graphic horror with hardcore sex.

The movie will debut in early September as part of the Hogtied brand. Cherry Torn and Veruca James play hikers tortured by a brutal psychopath in the woods.

“Fear is just another way of hijacking our body’s fight-or-flight response to provide a more intense sexual release,” said JP (“The Pope”), who directed the film for Kink’s Hogtied.com. That said, he admits that the film is ”extreme, even for us.”

As Kink.com is quick to point out, Hollywood has long mixed fear and arousal in horror movies starring sexy teens, from horror classics like Sleepaway Camp and Friday the 13th to more recent films like American Psycho and Cabin in the Woods. But because of distributor fears and obscenity codes, adult “horror” movies tend toward parody and camp.

The Pope, however, is going in a direction more suited to Kink fans' tastes.

“This probably isn’t a film that we’d ever be able to release on DVD, even in an edited version, but it was important for me to make. I wanted to produce an authentic horror film that would really trigger panic in both the performers and the viewers. If it makes some people uncomfortable, so be it.”
