HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. - International Video Distributors has announced improvements to its online business-to-business service.
Retail ordering of more than 70,000 DVD titles can be done at
the IVD website, and the company said the process has been made more
user-friendly and less time-consuming.
"Improving our site to make it even easier for our customers to place orders with
us is a great accomplishment for us," said Raj, IVD's corporate training officer.
"Our corporate retail customers don't really need to be sold on the product,
but they do want quick access to the products that sell ... fast."
According to Raj, the online B2B service's interface is unlike that of a
standard online store where customers click on items one at a time and add them
to their "shopping carts."
"This update lets you place large orders of up to 30 at a
time per page as you browse by different criteria or by searching," he said.
The updated system allows shoppers to assign different addresses to items
during checkout. Customers can split up orders, rather than having to place
individual orders with different shipping destinations or call individual sales
representatives.
Another option for retail outlets is to order from IVD's
website using a spreadsheet. The key bulk export feature lets retail customers
order from 10 titles to 10,000 titles and arrange shipping to as many as 100
locations.
"The spreadsheet option is for use by the buyer, at their discretion," said
Dominick, a programmer at IVD. "They are free to use whatever method they are
most comfortable with."
The "Browse by Studio" page offers consumers a list of all titles sorted by
popularity. Customers can isolate popular titles by talent and director.
"I don't know anyone in the industry that can give their customers such
specific browsing parameters," Raj said.
