CELEBRITYVILLE—Gamelink.com is so taken with the "nude" photo that Tara Reid recently posted to her Instagram page that the venerable adult online retailer has issued a public offer to the 39-year-old actress to star in a sex tape for a cool million. As in dollars.
We put the quotations around nude only because the Sharknado star, while indeed naked in the Instagram photo of her reclining in a hammock, pictured above, adroitly covers up all the good parts. Some might call that cruel, but we're thinking it's the tease factor that got Gamelink going.
Anyway, the offer was made via TMZ, which reported shortly after midnight this morning that Gamelink "was so impressed by a sexy nude pic she posted on Instagram on NYE, it's ponying up $1M for her to, as they put it, 'showcase her beauty and talent' by having sex on film."
As is the tradition with these sorts of offers, complete creative control was also reportedly extended to the celebrity, in case, you know, it's not about the money.
We have no doubt the offer was made in complete sincerity, and we suspect the Gamelink execs are waiting for an answer with bated breath. Still, there is this niggling feeling that offers like these are sometimes made with the slight expectation that the movie star would never agree to actually be in a porno, making it the best kind of publicity there is: free with no downside. A quick perusal of the many, many sites covering this story proves the click-bait truth of that.
To that end, we queried Gamelink about the sincerity of the offer, and were pleased to hear that it was made in complete earnest, with Gamelink VP of Business Development Jeff Dillon confirming that in the event Reid agrees, the offer will be honored, and as far as he's concerned, "It would be money well spent."
That's good to know, because we have to confess that the comment by one of TMZ's readers had us nodding our heads in agreement. "Given how the negative stereotype of porn has diminished over the years," wrote SpankyHamm, "I'm really surprised that more D-List celebrities haven't resorted to doing legitimate porn work for a quick million. Tara Reid is a perfect example—she's not going to be in Academy Award movies."
D-List may be a bit harsh for Reid, but the point is a good one. One day, the answer to an offer like this one is going to come back as, "Sure, why not."
