AVN Associate Editor Tom Hymes is on the scene and provided this update:

“The Government Advisory Committee (GAC) and the ICANN Board are in a day-long meeting today to consult about disagreements they had,” Hymes said. “The first order of business at 9 a.m. was a .XXX half-hour presentation that really took six minutes, during which GAC Chair Heather Dryden from Canada read a letter expressing the opinion of GAC, which was the continuing opposition of .XXX for the same reasons—consistent reasons—that go back to the ICANN meeting in Wellington, New Zealand, in 2006. The board has the same issues that it had with the Wellington and Cartagena communiques.”

After Dryden read the letter, the board did not respond directly to it, but announced that it needed to continue to talk about the matter.
