First Set-Top Box for Porn Debuts at AEE

LAS VEGAS - Fyre TV, the first set-top box to deliver DVD-quality adult movies on demand to home televisions, made its premiere at AVN's Adult Entertainment Expo.

The product, created by Miami-based entrepreneur Estefano Isaias, is in beta now and will officially debut in April.

Fyre plugs separately into an Ethernet port in a broadband connection and into a television. It has 20,000 movies available, compared to Vudu Inc.'s 5,000 movies.

Isaias said he is proud of Fyre's search function, which allows customers to select films and individual scenes by star, locale and type of sex.

"We created a platform for the adult industry, so anything that the industry produces will be on the box," he said. "Taking the searchability ... and the delivery of the Internet and placing it in front of the template experience, that's why I think the technology is so special and why I think it is going to be a success."

The service is free, but it requires a subscription plan that ranges from $10 to $100 per month. Fyre shares its revenue with the adult film studios that supply the videos, which are protected from copying by Digital Rights Management technology.
