FBI Investigating Wikipedia Photo

SAN FRANCISCO - Following reports of sexually explicit images on Wikipedia, the FBI is investigating a photograph that accompanies on entry on a heavy metal band's album.

According to World Net Daily, the image is the original cover shot for the Scorpions' 1976 album "Virgin Killer." The album cover, which was banned in the U.S. and replaced with a picture of the band, features a naked pre-pubescent girl bound with rope.

A photograph of the alternate album cover also accompanies the entry.

World Net Daily reported that the FBI is investigating the image for possible violations of federal child-pornography laws.

Wikipedia representatives reportedly denied knowledge of the photograph.

"Wikipedia is a platform for use by members of the public around the world," Jay Walsh, head of communications for Wikipedia parent company Wikimedia, told World Net Daily. "I understand your concern has been raised with volunteer administrators and editors. They will review and consider your request in the context of the Wikipedia editorial policies."

World Net Daily's report followed an article about the Concerned Women for America's criticism of Wikipedia for allowing content that includes sexually explicit images.
