LOS ANGELES - Convergence Inc. announced Thursday that it has hired Erik Van Riper as its vice president of operations.
Van Riper's main responsibilities will be supervising the company's day-to-day operations and developing growth strategies for its businesses and affiliates.
"I had too much on my plate and realized that there are people out there with more time and knowledge [related to] this position," said company President Dave Levine. "I'm honored to have the opportunity to bring Erik aboard to join Convergence Inc., as his knowledge and experience provide an invaluable component to the company as we continue to grow."
Van Riper's previous position was at Kintera, where he took the company public, obtained Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and developed a multiyear growth plan. He also was responsible for all aspects of security for the Kintera CRM platform.
He previously worked at Akamai/Intervu, leading a team that developed emerging technologies and built the first globally distributed broadband content-delivery network for streaming media. He also developed ways to monitor systems and applications from hundreds of servers all over the world.
Levine said Van Riper was an ideal addition to help keep the company on the cutting edge of the industry.
"He is a seasoned high-tech veteran with more than 17 years of experience in Internet technology, including streaming media, ASP infrastructures and Web-based CRM," he said.
