This past week—Nov. 1 to be exact—payment processor Epoch celebrated its milestone 10th anniversary.
The company was born in 1996—the brainchild of Chief Executive Officer Joel Hall and Clay Andrews—and now is the oldest high-risk Internet payment service provider serving the adult business.
Epoch considerably evolved throughout the years, but it started when a little site called Hogtied.com became the company’s first customer. Hogtied, started by Peter Ackworth, today is part of the Kink.com network, and Ackworth has gone on to become one of the top producers of fetish and bondage material in the industry. Ten years ago, Epoch also began doing business with two companies that would develop into online empires of their own: TrafficCashGold and SilverCash.
“It’s definitely been an intense 10 years, and although we have gone through difficult periods, I am very proud of where our company is today,” said Hall. “We strive to be the innovative force in our industry and continue to operate with the same small-company attitude we’ve had since we started. We look forward to the next 10 years.”
Epoch will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Nov. 9 with a party at Webmaster Access West. The party will take place at Universal Studios beginning at 8 p.m. A shuttle service will transport conference attendees from the host hotel to the party.
