NEW YORK - Richard J. Gordon, owner of payment processing company Dial Talk International, was featured in a New York Times article on his role in the birth of electronic commerce.
In the early 1990s, Gordon, 62, founded several companies that were the basis for transactions conducted with credit cards over the Internet, a development that opened the doors to the first generation of e-commerce startups, according to the New York Times.
"I have been an inventor, creative genius and pioneer," Gordon said. "I have worked with thousands of people around the world in the last 30 years ... including legislators, governors, United States presidents, CEOs and self-made billionaires, all of whom I personally made aware of earlier mistakes and would be happy to sing my praises."
Gordon made a fortune through commissions from processing sales on an array of sites, including small mainstream retailers and purveyors of X-rated entertainment.
Today, Gordon's company maintains affiliations in the world of adult entertainment. Processing Solutions, among the companies he owns or operates, facilitates credit-card transactions for the websites of Dial Talk International, according to current and former employees familiar with the arrangements.
Dial Talk International is a blend of several websites offering everything from live video sessions with adult performers to expressly sexual hentai cartoons.
Gordon supports the prevention of animal abuse, and until last week, his Los Angeles-based Web design company Bold New World had a profitable contract to design sites for the American Bible Society.
