Dahlia Sky Makes Directorial Bow on PawnThatPussy.com

Dahlia Sky is making a name for herself … again. The adult performer is into her third year in the industry—but she’s had to leave a well-established moniker behind. However, this time she’ll also be putting her name on work she does from the director’s chair.

As Bailey Blue, she earned nine 2014 AVN Award nominations, including Female Performer of the Year. Alas, a clothing company apparently trademarked the name “Bailey Blue” back in 2007 or 2008, Sky said. “They had sent me a cease and desist. I hadn’t heard of them until they sent that.”

Now, she’s working as Dahlia Sky. “I thought of all kinds of different names, and that one, nobody else had anything similar to it. I ended up buying the website and a few domain names that were associated with it.”

We were talking to Sky about her latest venture: directing a scene for the website PawnThatPussy.com. Her directing debut, which she shot a few weeks ago, is live now. (Click here to visit the site.)

“It was great,” Sky said. “I chose Gabriella Paltrova for the scene and she did such an amazing job. I was so happy with it.”

She explained, “It’s a new site; it’s only been around for roughly about six months. It’s basically a play on Pawn Shop, the TV show.” But here the women who are looking to get cash for trash have a little extra leverage when they try to argue for a better price. And the site’s male performer, Daniel Dre, is more than happy to negotiate.

Fresh off the project, Sky was invigorated and ready to do more. “As of right now I’m going to try to direct for that site as much as possible,” she said. “I want to hire Veruca James; I think she would be great on the site. … Maddy O’Reilly would be awesome. Ash Hollywood.”

The affiliate program for PawnThatPussy.com is CorsaCash.com, which is run by three producers: Tony Toro, Johnny Nekro and Daniel Dre. Toro is a veteran affiliate with 10 years of industry experience under his belt, so he understands how to convert online traffic into sales. Nekro supervises all aspects of editing and set design, while Dre oversees the hiring of female talent.

Toro talked about his newest director. “Dahlia is amazing,” he said. “She’s a creative writer and knows how to speak with talent on a personal yet professional level. She's a great asset to have when you're directing a story-based scene. She was a real pleasure to work with and very enthusiastic about her first time being behind the camera.”

We wanted to know more about this all-natural blonde who jetted into adult stardom. “I was born and raised in Southern California,” she said. Her first scene was for “this Asian company, I don’t even remember the name of it. It was actually a really terrible scene; I was really nervous.”

Then she moved on through the “new girl” circuit, doing scenes “here and there with companies that shoot new girls. At the time I didn’t really have any plans to stay in the industry, so I didn’t shoot too much. But then maybe a year into it I decided to move to L.A. and actually pursue it.”

Pursue it she has, working the Evil Angel booth at this year’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and racking up more than 25 credits in 2014 so far, according to IAFD.com.

And there’s much more to come. One big movie ahead is Digital Playground’s Sisters of Anarchy, directed by Bonnie Rotten, in which Sky plays one of Rotten’s gang members. We asked what she thought of the 2014 Female Performer of the Year, who is—like Sky—a Spiegler Girl. Sky replied, “Ever since I met Bonnie she’s been an inspiration.” In fact, Sky’s ultimate ambition is to follow the career trajectory of Rotten, who is directing projects for her own studio, Mental Beauty. “In the future I definitely want to have my own company that I direct for,” Sky said.

Until then, the team at CorsaCash is happy to see a repeat of Sky’s first time behind the camera. “It's always fun when you have someone with that kind of passion and excitement working with you,” Toro said. “We would love to collaborate with her again on future shoots.”
