Cosmo Launches Daily Sex Position Android App

MOBILESPACECosmopolitan, that bastion of freewheeling sexuality, has launched an Android app, the Cosmopolitan Sex Position of the Day, courtesy of the Kama Sutra. The app is currently available in the Android market for $2.99, but some people are already wondering how long it will take before Google makes it go away.

"My question is this: will Google remove this app from the Android market," wrote Quentyn Kennemer for Phandroid. "Does Google consider a sex positions app – which doesn’t show actual humans performing said acts – as ‘obscene’ as they consider a Hitler app? They definitely should if Merriam-Webster’s definition of the word is anything to go by, so I’m just waiting to see how they’ll treat this case."

But removing the app is unlikely considering the fact that the same app, for the same price, also is available in the Apple App Store, where you must be at least 17 years of age to purchase it. If it’s okay for Steve Jobs, it’s got to pass muster with Bill Gates.

Kama Sutra sex positions are nothing new for Cosmo, anyway. The venerable publication devotes a full page of its website to the activity—as well as a Sex Position of the Day on the homepage—and has even published a “get it on guide” called The Cosmo Kama Sutra, compiled by the editors of Cosmopolitan and available at Barnes & Noble.

The goal, reads the site, is “to help you reach your peak every single time.”
