ConSluts.com Brings Adult into the Mainstream at Dragon Con

ATLANTA - Con Sluts, an online community for science fiction, gaming and comic convention enthusiasts, is endeavoring to offer the adult industry more opportunities to market their products to mainstream audiences.

"What most people don't understand about the proverbial modern geek is that we have just as much of an interest in adult products as anyone else," Con Sluts editor Scott McGowan said. "One only has to spend a couple of hours witnessing the debauchery that occurs during the evening hours after a convention to understand this."

Con Sluts kicked things off last year with an exclusive, adults-only event that has quickly become one of the most renowned parties of Dragon Con, a convention that attracts around 35,000 attendees annually.

Con Sluts will host yet another event during Dragon Con on Aug. 29 in a private suite at the Atlanta Hyatt Regency hotel.

"In years past, the convention welcomed various types of adult-oriented panel discussions and seminars on such topics as 2257, web cam girls and various alternative sexual lifestyles," McGowan said. "Unfortunately, due to a more conservative leadership at Dragon Con, many of these bits of programming have gone by the wayside in recent years. We intend to bring back such adult-oriented fun in a private, safe, and sane environment."

For this year's event, Con Sluts has taken on such respected adult companies as studio Pink Visual and internet video-on-demand powerhouse Yappo, along with retailers Adam & Eve and Babeland, as sponsors. The companies have provided thousands of dollars worth of prizes that will be distributed to all guests in the form of goodie bags, along with special prizes for those who win contests that will take place during the party.

"The Con Sluts party is a unique way to introduce our product to a targeted mainstream audience," Kate Sylvan, marketing and PR coordinator for Pink Visual, said.

"We have a great group of sponsors for this year's party who truly understand the potential for exposure in such a mainstream environment," McGowan added. "These are all luminary companies with amazing products to offer and we're honored to be able to pass their marketing message on to what we feel is an extremely relevant and interested community of adults."

Future plans for the operators of Con Sluts include taking their special brand of naughty fun to other conventions on the East Coast of the U.S. and continuing to bring other like-minded geeks into the fray.

Launched late last year as a venue by which adult companies of all types may have an opportunity to expose their products to adults of various lifestyles in the fan convention subculture, Con Sluts has found an active audience in its demographic.
