China ISPs Under Fire for Providing Porn Site Access

BEIJING—The China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre has reported that six Internet access providers were offering users access to websites that contained pornographic and “vulgar content.”

According to China Tech News, the six Internet access providers are Beijing Teletron, Shanghai Telecom, Hangzhou Telecom in Zhejiang, Taizhou Telecom in Jiangsu, Mianyang Telecom in Sichuan, and Wuhan Telecom in Hubei.

In a statement CIIRC said the ISPs are currently clearing pornographic websites from their caches. Meanwhile, punishment in some form is now under consideration by the stage agencies. The government said the ISPs should have blocked access to all porn sites, under Chinese web restrictions.

China has been cracking down on porn in all forms, especially online, since the beginning of the year.  For more, view the AVN.com news archives.
