Cavecreek Integrates Adobe Flash 3 for High-Definition

TEMPE, Ariz. - Cavecreek, a provider of wholesale IP transit, full-service hosting, CDN and streaming, has integrated Adobe Flash Media Server 3, which supports high-definition.

Provided by Level 3 Communications in collaboration with Adobe, the new technology deploys Adobe Flash Media Server 3 across the premier Level 3 content-delivery infrastructure.

The integration of Adobe Flash Media Server 3 technology into Cavecreek's CDN services allows customers to deliver H.264 high-definition streams.

H.264 video encryption, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 or MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding, has been touted as the latest standard for high-definition streaming.

H.264 compresses video more effectively than older standards and at substantially lower bit rates. It uses multipicture interpicture prediction, variable block-size motion compensation, quarter-pixel precision and other technologies to encode video with about one-third of the bit rate of comparable MPEG-2 encoders.

To address growing security concerns over content theft and tube-site publishing, Adobe Flash Media Server 3 supports Encrypted Real Time Messaging Protocol streaming, which helps prevent stream-ripping software from copying the file to offline locations.

Additional features include Flow Monitoring System 3, known as SWF hashing (verification), by which a signature of the SWF file is created and used by the FMS server to ensure that the stream can only be deployed within the signed SWF file.
