Artists Put Porn on iPad Ads Blanketing S.F.

SAN FRANCISCO—Apple CEO Steve Jobs has publicly stated that he’s not a fan of porn on his company’s devices. As Apple holds its Worldwide Developers Conference this week, a group of street artists have altered a series of iPad ads blanketing San Francisco to mock Jobs’ stance.

The Freedom From Porn group, an assemblage formed after an email from Jobs was made public in which he stated that he promised the iPhone App Store would be free from adult content, has pasted faux screen shots on numerous iPad ads.

A note to Jobs on the Freedom-From-Porn.com website states, “You don’t want people looking at vaginas on the tablet you named after a feminine hygiene product? Something smells fishy. Sincerely, Dudes who like porn.”

These mock-ups include replacing Jobs’ PG Facebook page with a racier one, and a fake email to Jobs from his personal assistant that said, "I booked the appointment with the general contractor to see if you can in fact attach a sex swing in your basement. I have also renewed your subscriptions to Penthouse, Hustler, and BBW Honeys."

While Jobs claims that Apple makes revolutionary products, he doesn’t seem to be on board with the sexual revolution.

An email he sent to a writer from Gawker.com that questioned Apple’s control of its operating system states, “Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data. Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn. Yep, freedom. The times they are a changin’, and some traditional PC folks feel like their world is slipping away. It is.”
