MOBILESPACE—Okay, we aren’t learning anything we didn’t already know, but another study—this time by Match.com, which surveyed 1,068 Canadian singles over three days in October—has found that people who use Android phones are more likely to have sex on a first date than people who use phones containing other operating systems. In other words, they’re sluts.
However, and this is really important to keep in mind, people who use the other phones are only slightly less slutty than those who prefer the Android.
“The survey, conducted by polling firm Zoomerang for dating website Match.com, found 62 per cent of singles it asked who use Android devices have had sex on a first date, compared with 57 per cent of iPhone users and 48 per cent of BlackBerry users,” reported the Vancouver Sun.
Not only are Android users easy, but they are also less inclined to commit. “At 55 per cent, Android users also were the most likely to have one-night stands,” the article continued. “According to the survey results, 50 per cent of iPhone users have had a one-night stand and 47.6 per cent of Blackberry users said also they had had a one-night stand.”
But Android users did not come in first in all categories. Survey results found that iPhone owners “were most likely to date a co-worker, with nearly a quarter of such singles saying they've had a workplace romance within the last five years,” and that “BlackBerry users—at 72 percent—were the most likely to drink alcohol on a first date.”
It’s unclear whether the sin determines the phone or the phone determines the sin, so we decided to do our own unofficially survey to see if the Match.com results hold true at AVN. However, it turns out an adult entertainment workplace is not the ideal environment in which to undertake a survey of phone ownership and sexual proclivity. All the above phones are owned by various staff members, but we found we were unable to untangle all of the workplace romances, one night stands and “first date” sexcapades that take place here with a regularity that would make a Swiss watchmaker proud.
Speaking of which, my Blackberry says it’s a little after 4pm; time for a cocktail with the new receptionist.
