An American movie took the top Ninfa Award at the 14th Barcelona International Erotic Cinema Festival (FICEB) this past weekend.
The awards, presented Oct. 8, were the climax of the four-day festival, heavily attended by fans and the international adult movie elite. The Ninfas are regarded as Europe’s most prestigious porn prizes since the demise of the Hot D’Or awards a few years ago.
Dark Angels 2, from New Sensations, distributed in Spain by IFG, won Best Movie, scoring over Private’s Sex City and Porn Wars, Vivid’s New Devil in Miss Jones and Rocco Siffredi’s Those Fuckin’ Nuts.
The U.S.’s James Avalon was named Best Director for Dark Side, from Red Light District Films, beating out four top European directors, including Sex City’s Pierre Woodman.
“That’s great!” was Avalon’s reaction upon being notified of his win. “Euro guys are great, so that’s actually a good award.”
Dark Side’s Randy Spears won Best Supporting Actor. The movie is Spanish-distributed by IFG under the title La Mansion del Placer.
A Special Jury Prize was bestowed on American director Thomas Zupko, and adult movie legend Nina Hartley was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Public’s Ninfas — awards voted by fans — went to Gina Lynn and Tom Byron as Best Actress and Actor.
Best All-Sex Movie was taken by Harmony’s Fuck Me and Best Transsexual Movie by Nacho Vidal’s Bang Bang She Male, with Vidal also winning Best Actor for Back 2 Evil 2. The three movies are U. S.-distributed by Evil Angel.
Private, the European production powerhouse, took home five awards. Mya Diamond in Sex Angels 2 won Best Actress and Porn Wars Best Production Design. Kill Thrill won for Best Script, Best Box Cover and Best Supporting Actress, Julie Silver.
