SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Macrovision, a provider of anti-piracy technology, has partnered with mainstream movie and TV download service Cinema Now, owner of the All Adult Channel, to facilitate the download of video content directly to Macrovision-enabled devices such as digital TVs, set-top boxes and network attached storage devices.
"Macrovision is basically a firmware that enables devices with this technology to work with All Adult Channel products," Lawrence Novitch, All Adult Channel's director of marketing and merchandising, told AVN Online. "Macrovision's Connected Platform is a comprehensive and flexible software solution that enables consumer device manufacturers to develop consumer entertainment products that can acquire streamed music, photos and video from PCs and networked storage devices.
"It is a component of the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) standard and is compliant to the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) standard."
Novitch said it will be up to major manufacturers such as Hewlett-Packard and Samsung to decide whether to carry content from All Adult Channel.
"Our adult offering is available for any and all digital distribution companies, as well as manufacturers," he said. "If they choose to turn it on, it will be there for them on a case-by-case basis."
Macrovision solutions are distributed by companies in the entertainment,
consumer electronics, gaming, software, information publishing and corporate information
technology markets for industry-specific challenges.
