WARRENDALE, Penn. - Adult DVD Empire has announced the nominees for the eighth annual Empire Awards, recognizing the best adult DVD releases of 2007.
The Empire Awards aim to celebrate not only the content of the DVDs being considered, but their video and audio quality, as well as their overall presentation. Categories include Best DVD Extras, Best DVD Commentary, Best DVD Menu Design, Best Compilation DVD, Best DVD Audio Quality, Best DVD Video Quality and Best Overall DVD.
Two new categories have been introduced this year: Best Amateur DVD and Best HD DVD, two arenas that have become increasingly popular among Adult DVD Empire's customers over the past year.
The most nominated studios of the year are: Wicked Pictures, with 22 (not including two nominations for Marc Dorcel, which the company distributes); Vivid Entertainment Group, with 14 (not including one for Vivid Alt); and Digital Playground, with 11.
Wicked's Operation: Desert Stormy was the most nominated single title, garnering eight nods.
The nominees for Best Overall DVD Studio are: Digital Playground, Elegant Angel Productions, Evil Angel Productions, Hustler Video, Jules Jordan Video, Vivid Entertainment Group, Wicked Pictures and Zero Tolerance Entertainment.
The winners of the Empire Awards are determined by in-house Adult DVD Empire reviewers and staff, as well as a few select outside reviewers and industry notables. The Viewer's Choice Award is the only exception, open to voting by the general public.
The Viewer's Choice nominees are: Babysitters (Digital Playground), Black Worm (Pulpo), Coming Home (Wicked Pictures), Operation: Desert Stormy (Wicked Pictures), Debbie Does Dallas...Again (Vivid Entertainment Group), InTERActive (Teravision/Hustler Video), Interactive Sex With Jenna Haze (Zero Tolerance Entertainment) Not the Bradys XXX (X-Play/Hustler Video) and Upload (SexZ Pictures).
