CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network announced that it has acquired the notoriously popular GoFuckYourself (GFY) adult webmaster chat board from ICS Entertainment Inc.
AVN management says it has no plans to alter the basic functionality or character of the often controversial forum, which is the online adult industry’s biggest web community.
Theo Sapoutzis, chairman of the AVN board of directors, said that the acquisition of GFY by the adult industry’s oldest and most trusted media company was but one piece of a broader strategy for growth and expansion that will be rolled out over the coming months.
“We are very pleased to welcome the GFY community to the AVN family,” said Sapoutzis. “This deal comes on the heels of our acquisition of Webmaster Access and Adult Whos Who, and is part of a larger online B2B strategy that AVN is already putting into place. In the coming weeks and months, AVN will be announcing more acquisitions and partnerships that we believe will be received very positively by the adult online community, and we look forward to reaffirming AVN’s role as a business innovator and free speech leader for the adult entertainment industry.”
Eric Matis will maintain his “Head Zookeeper” role, which he has had since 2001, when Lensman hired him at ICS. Prior to the acquisition by AVN, Matis was the vice president of affiliate programs and industry relations at Playboy. Matis told AVN that after 10 action-packed years of GFY oversight, he’s looking forward to continuing to improve the board.
“The acquisition of GFY by AVN presents an opportunity that I am very excited about,” said Matis. “GFY over the years has become my baby, and I am very excited that AVN is embracing many new ideas that I think can take GFY to the next level.”
