LOS ANGELES - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection has created a new public service announcement that features Wicked contract performer, writer and director Stormy Daniels advocating the "Restricted to Adults" website label.
The new video features Daniels reminding her webmaster to use the RTA label.
"By labeling with RTA, adopting ASACP's best practices and supporting ASACP as a member or sponsor, you can protect children and your business at the same time," said Joan Irvine, CEO of the ASACP.
The ASACP released a video in March to encourage parents to use filtering software. The group plans to release public service announcements featuring adult entertainment stars throughout the year and make the videos available in formats that can be used on cable networks and DVDs.
The ASACP urges supporters to help promote the RTA website label by featuring the public service announcement on their websites.
"When attacking the adult entertainment industry, the government often attempts to blur the lines between consenting adults and exposure to children," attorney Lawrence G. Walters said. "As we see time and time again - most recently, with the obscenity prosecution against Evil Angel - the government tries to recast the debate in terms of protecting children, instead of preserving the rights of adults to access erotic expression. The RTA device is one example of the industry's voluntary effort to address the concern of minors' access to age-restricted material."
The ASACP developed the RTA website label out of a need for an easy-to-use and internationally recognized label that designates adult content. The label is a string of metadata that is inserted into the code of a website. Filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing age-inappropriate material. The RTA label is free and universally available.
The RTA label, which was launched in November 2006, has more than 4 million page link-ins.
