LOS ANGELES - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection has received a commendation from Redondo Beach Mayor Michael A. Gin for its "Restricted to Adults" website label.
"I am thrilled that my city recognized the efforts of ASACP to protect children online," CEO Joan Irvine said. "We are honored to receive this award from Mayor Gin, and we are grateful to everyone who has made this possible by labeling with ‘RTA.'"
The mayor's commendation recognizes the ASACP's achievements and its efforts to "help parents prevent their children from viewing age-inappropriate content" with the "Restricted to Adults" label.
The certificate was issued to commemorate the ASACP's being named to the 2008 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national award competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership. The ASACP, one of 15 organizations that received the honor, was recognized for its website label.
