AEBN Introduces New Silverlight Media Player

CHARLOTTE, NC—AEBN has announced improvements to the Silverlight Media Player that will bring significant enhancements to the VOD customer experience.

Used across its network of theaters, AEBN's Silverlight Media Player is an application that allows customers to watch movies, access saved favorites and new recommendations and more, without leaving the all-in-one player. The new player enables more efficient access to movies and scenes consumers are interested in viewing, with minimal steps needed to find, save, sort and view media.

Members can save favorite movies and scenes, and the player will provide suggestions for similar movies that they may want to view or save to their favorites list. The player will also provide a list of previously viewed movies and scenes.

"This is a huge step forward for VOD," said Jerry Anders, AEBN's VP of sales and marketing. "Our new Silverlight player creates a seamless customer experience that minimizes their need to move between a player and the website, so they can watch movies more easily."

Users will still be able to choose previous player options, such as Windows Media or Real Player.

"The Silverlight player is really the ultimate solution," continued Anders. "Given its cross-browser capabilities and the features we're able to offer with it, it was easy to see that Silverlight was the answer to some issues we've encountered in the past decade."

Microsoft's Silverlight is a powerful development platform for creating rich media applications and business applications for the web, desktop, and mobile devices. Silverlight is a free plug-in powered by the .NET framework that is compatible across multiple browsers, devices and operating systems, including Macs. Microsoft Silverlight must be installed on a customer's computer in order to use the new media player.
