AC/DC Reclaims Domain Name from Porn Site

SYDNEY, Australia - Rock group AC/DC has reclaimed the domain name ACDC.com, which had been a porn site since 2002.

According to AC/DC manager Sam Horsburgh of Albert Productions in Sydney, the drive to reclaim the domain name came out of concern that fans - possibly as young as 10 years old - would visit the site and see porn instead of information about the band. "You should post a warning with that kind of thing (turn off your sound and don't open it at work!!!)," one fan posted in a forum.

"The young fans are so Net-savvy, it's the first thing they do," Horsburgh said. "And there was some interesting viewing up there for some time."

With the announcement of the site's relaunch, AC/DC made a statement in reference to the original domain: "Feel free to visit us from work, school or, for longtime visitors to the site, from the usual privacy of your basement."

AC/DC is preparing to release Plug Me In, a five-DVD collection of live concert footage. More than 500,000 copies of the set have been ordered worldwide.
