LAS VEGAS—Day three of the 2018 Internext Expo ended on a note that fit its location at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. At the annual GFY Awards, one of the perennially popular events at the webmaster show, the band Dollface kept the crowd’s ears entertained with rock & roll and their eyes with the sensual gyrations of two dancers.
And in between the band’s three sets, Eric Matis of GFY.com revealed the evening’s winners, voted on by members of GFY.com. “You did this, motherfuckers,” he reminded the crowd, in typical GFY parlance. With a running commentary that fits the tone of the venerable webmaster forum, Matis urged them to “make some noise” and take advantage of the free drinks, courtesy of Pussycash.
Among the many to make noise was Brad Mitchell from MojoHost, who accepted the first award of the night and got the crowd chanting his company name. Red carpet sponsor Studio 20 embraced the GFY spirit with their acceptance speech: “We promise to succeed together and you can go fuck yourself.”
Highlights of the evening included multiple wins for Chaturbate.com, with MohawkSteve accepting in Shirley Lara’s absence—including one trophy for himself as Best Company Rep. And as usual, Andy Wullmer of SexGoesMobile made the most noise of all, especially when he came up to snag his crystal trophy for Businessman of the Year. And he kept his energy up the whole night, even grabbing the mic during once during Dollface’s final set.
Kenny B of YourPaysitePartner was up on stage multiple times—once to pick up a trophy for Best Content Partnership for his own company, and also to accept Best New Paysite for Swallowed.com. Launched by director Mike Adriano with YourPaysitePartner, the site was the end result of a post on GFY, Kenny explained. And the webmaster also accepted Best Affiliate Program for PornstarPlatinum when JC Baumgartner, Pornstar Platinum's president, didn’t hear his name called—and was nonplussed when he found out about the win shortly after.
One treat for the GFY set: CrakRevenue founder Nick Chrétien was in attendance—the first time he had been present to accept a trophy for his company, a frequent GFY Award winner. “Nick’s here—oh shit!” Matis crowed, reminding the assembly that the French Canadian had just given the keynote speech for Internext 2018 earlier that day. Chrétien was joined on stage by Axel Vezina, the man who usually accepts GFY honors for CrakRevenue. “Behind every CEO is Axel,” Chrétien told the crowd.
Matis also revealed which GFY member had been voted as the newest member of the Hall of Fame, and it turned out that the voting had been a tie. “
“The first one is a pioneer. None if this exists without him,” Matis said, explaining that Lensman had been a key resource back in the early days of GFY. Lensman was not present to accept (“He’s been retired for years,” Matis explained), but there was someone to accept the honors for the second attendee: Hone Lynn. FUBARWebmasters.com founder JFK came up to accept on her behalf, saying that Lynn was too sick to travel. “She was one of the first cam girls in this business,” he said, “with over 6,000 posts. On behalf of her, I accept this award.”
