The Stockroom Debuts Limited Collection With Melanie Rose

LOS ANGELESThe Stockroom has released a new limited-edition collection of bondage gear in collaboration with Melanie Rose, the host of Netflix’s hit show How to Build a Sex Room.

The Melanie Rose Designs x The Stockroom Collection includes a blindfold, collar, leash, wrist cuffs and a restraint clip, all of which were handmade in The Stockroom’s Los Angeles workshop with a limited run of only 75 pieces each.

The Melanie Rose Designs Collection is made of braided cranberry and black leather, accented with gold-plated hardware, making it eyecatching, while still durable enough for everyday play. "It was a joy to work with the experts at the Stockroom to realize my vision for these pieces," Rose said. “The creative team at the Stockroom took my idea and elevated it into something incredibly special."

Through How to Build a Sex Room, Melanie Rose—now known as the “Mary Poppins of Sex”—has given thousands of people a new idea of what sex can be. Known for her gentle and sophisticated demeanor, Rose has been a popular guide to the world of bondage, fetish and polyamory for those who may still have reservations. In one notable scene from the show, Rose seeks out a saddlemaker to create an exquisite custom sex swing for her clients—something rarely shown on American television, especially when not treated as a punchline or to be condemned. Rose, however, has said she approaches the subject with an open heart and mind.

“Melanie’s style and approach are very similar to what we do at The Stockroom,” said Christine Gillette, marketing coordinator at The Stockroom. “We’ve got a reputation for being peoples’ first stop when they’re just starting to explore their kinky side. Naturally, we couldn’t resist the chance to collaborate with her.”

On Sept. 6, Rose hosted the official product launch at the Stockroom’s flagship store, where fans and customers alike filled the fetish boutique to meet her in the flesh and to see the new products firsthand. According to purchasing manager Whitney Petty, the launch already made a sizable dent in the limited run. “It’s clear that people are as excited about this new line as we are,” she said. “We’ve always been proud of our skilled design team, and this is really an example of them at their peak. For this collection, we really enjoyed deviating from our signature materials and developing the unique elements that define this collection like the cranberry exotic leather and gold rose rivets.”
