SXSW to Host Female Panel on 'The Future of Sex'

AUSTIN, Texas—The upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas will include as part of its program schedule a panel dubbed "The Future of Sex: As Told by Women" addressing what promotional materials call "a major shift" in the sexual wellness realm led by female and other underrepresented voices.

Taking place on Monday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Austin Marriott Downtown, the hour-long seminar will feature as its panelists: Lilly Sparks, the Texas-based founder of AVN Award-nominated erotic site afterglow (xoafterglow.com); Anna Lee, co-founder of the biofeedback-incorporating Lioness Smart Vibrator; sex therapist Shadeen Francis of The People's Therapy Group; and sex researcher Gabrielle Evans of The Minority Sex Report, LLC.

“This SXSW panel is another step towards releasing the shame and stigma we have around sex in our society," Sparks said. "50 percent of women don't orgasm during sex, so the status quo is NOT working. Having this panel of accomplished, smart, talented women share the stage to talk about sex is a revolutionary act and I'm proud to be bringing the future to life.”

“Sex and women’s sexual health is a topic we are working to normalize,” noted Lee. “I'm proud to be partaking in this conversation continuing this important discussion.”

Added Francis, “We have so few real conversations about sex. The most pleasurable sexual experiences we have come from presence and vulnerability, and we practice that through talking about our experiences, our fears and our desires. This panel is an opportunity for us to hold space for exactly that, and to share with the audience what we’ve all learned along the way.”
