Smitten Kitten Announces Spring/Summer Workshops

MINNEAPOLIS - Sex toy and equipment retailer The Smitten Kitten has announced its schedule of events for the spring and early summer.

Rita Seagrave, a dominatrix, sex-advice columnist and college instructor, will host the workshop "BDSM for Beginners" from 7:30-9 p.m. April 18. The workshop will introduce attendees to kinky sex. Pre-registration is required and costs $15.

Author Rachel Kramer Bussel will host "Erotica Writing Workshop 101" from 7-8:30 p.m. May 3 and the "Best Sex Writing 2008" reading on May 4. A $15 pre-registration fee is required for the writing workshop. The reading is free and does not require attendees to RSVP.

Award-winning author and Vivid-Ed director Tristan Taormino will host the free polyamory reading and discussion group "Opening Up" from 7-8:30 p.m. June 16, and she will teach her "Anal Pleasure 101" workshop from 7-9 p.m. June 17. The pre-registration fee is $20.

Smitten Kitten co-founder Jennifer Pritchett said attendees should RSVP early for Taormino's workshops because they are likely to fill fast.

Thousands responded to the store's e-surveys in the past month, and many requested more event offerings, Pritchett said.

"Customers told us that they wanted to see more workshops and events at The Smitten Kitten," she said. "We agreed and always base our events on our customers' recommendations."
