SEBASTOPOL, Calif.—Joan Price—an acclaimed author, speaker and ageless sexuality advocate—is hosting Sex Toy Sighting!
“This idea came to me on a weekend away, when my date mate and I playfully photographed some of our favorite sex toys in the public places we visited,” expsaidlains Price. “‘Sex Toy Sighting!’ I called out, and the idea was born.”
The social media contest asks fans to photograph a favorite sex toy in a public place that has no expectation of privacy. Sex Toy Sighting! runs through Thursday, Dec. 19. Winners will receive prizes donated by sex-positive companies, such as sex toys from Hot Octopuss, Good Vibrations, Smitten Kitten and Fun Factory; luxury lubricants from Wicked Sensual; sex-themed gifts from Lucky Bloke; and Price’s books and webinars.
Known for her recent work on Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Senior Sex, Price is now asking contestants to photograph their favorite vibrator in a place where sex toys ordinarily do not belong — e.g. grocery store, coffee shop, park, public building, on a public street, at a public event and more. The best, strangest, and funniest photos in several categories will win prizes.
The rules are that the location must be public and with no expectation of privacy, and no human faces maybe seen, though animal faces are okay. To see how to submit a photograph, see Joan Price’s blog post, “Sex Toy Sightings Contest: Prizes, Hilarity!”
The winning photographs will be posted on Price’s blog, JoanPrice.com/blog, and on her social media.
“Taking a risk is part of the fun,” Price said. “If someone asks what you’re doing, just say ‘It’s a photo shoot.’ And if they ask what that object is that you’re photographing, just say the name of the sex toy. That might start an interesting conversation!”
The categories are:
• Riskiest photo
• Strangest place to see a sex toy
• Most unusual positioning of sex toy in its surroundings
• Biggest sex toy photographed (Sybian or Motorbunny, anyone?)
• Best sex toy costume
• Best story of what happened when the photo was taken
• Photo that made the judges laugh the hardest
• Most retweeted photo (finalists will be published on Twitter—be sure to follow @joanprice)
