NEW YORK—The Manhattan location of adult retailer Romantic Depot recently found itself in the spotlight after former President Donald Trump's visit to a nearby convenience store resulted in the sex and intimacy outlet receiving airtime in segments on both Fox News and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The Hamilton Heights bodega where Trump made a surprise appearance recently is located 30 feet away from Romantic Depot Manhattan, one of the chain's 12 brick-and-mortar stores. During Trump's visit, Romantic Depot employees stood outside of the store and held up a red, 15-foot horizontal banner emblazoned with the words "TRUMP DILDOS ON SALE NOW!"
Glen Buzzetti, CEO of Romantic Depot, expressed excitement about the unexpected media attention, commenting, "Our team acted swiftly to seize this marketing opportunity by creating the red and white banner which showcased a teaser to our forthcoming Presidential Deal-Dos collection, which are Trump and Biden-themed adult novelty products from Naughty USA Products, LLC.”
While Fox News did not air the footage of Romantic Depot's presence next to the rally, one anchor re-capped the spectacle for Fox viewers.
"Employees of the Romantic Depot ... waved a red banner advertising a product named after Donald Trump—I have no idea what that is!" he quipped, which elicited nervous laughter from the other anchors.
Kimmel subsequently aired the Fox News clip, smirking, "Well, I know what it is ... that product is this: ‘Trump Dildos on Sale Now!’" Displaying the banner held by smiling Romantic Depot employees, he continued, "That's the product. And what could be more romantic than a Depot, you know?"
Buzzetti noted that the grassroots marketing initiative has positively impacted Romantic Depot's local and national visibility, reportring a significant increase in retail store foot traffic and online engagement. “The mention on Fox News was remarkable, but to have Jimmy Kimmel take notice exceeded our expectations.
