YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio—Adult store Sassy Sensations recently found itself a part of the political discourse thanks to a story in the New York Times.
The story featured residents of the greater Youngstown, Ohio, area debating the qualifications of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during a campaign stop in the city by Trump.
The Aug. 28 articles noted the discussions were taking place “… under a billboard for a nearby adult novelty store Sassy Sensations …”
“We are so much more than that,” said store owner Vanessa Fuchs. “We respect people’s right to privacy and realize the confidentiality needed for this market. But we also provide products for pampering, romance and pure fun!”
According to a CNBC.com article by Chris Morris in 2013, the novelty segment of adult entertainment was about a $15 billion industry, and it is continuing to go mainstream. He goes on to point out that some “adult toys” are carried online by Target, Walgreen’s and CVS. But Sassy Sensations is a personalized shopping environment that caters to the whole customer experience, not just individual products, according to Fuchs.
“We like to think we’re about romance and keeping the relationship young and alive,” she said. “Whether it’s a fun way to celebrate a Bachelorette Party, we’ve even seen some Divorce Parties. We’ve grown to include a Men’s line as well. It’s all about making the woman, the man, the couple have some fun and enjoy each other.”
Sassy Sensations was founded in 1997 by Fuchs. Its revenue has grown significantly over the almost 20 years and has grown to three boutique locations: two in the Pittsburgh market, and one in the Youngstown/Austintown area of Ohio. It also has a very strong online presence and ships to customers all across the country. Sassy Sensations carries a wide variety of products from the most widely respected and licensed manufacturers in the country. Products include lingerie, hosiery, shoes, toys, games, health supplements, manuals and more.
