TORONTO—Dildo-Sculptor—a free online tool which helps users design sex toys in the exact shape and size they want—is now available from SexToyCollective.com.
As an organization, the Sex Toy Collective focuses on boosting positivity around sex toys and reducing stigma associated with their use.
Printed designs created from the Dildo-Sculptor can be used to create molds for the mass production of silicone dildos. Those who need help in this process can use the guide included on the page, and they can also check the gallery of other users’ creations for inspiration.
Currently the Dildo-Sculptor has more than 100 gallery submissions.
To create the initial shape, users can move a series of points on a 2D canvas, and see their 3D creation generated in real time. Additional effects like bend, warp, waves, spirals, and bumps can be added to further customize the sex toy shape.
In the “Stats” panel users can see the width, height and volume of the dildo, as well as the cost of silicone. This gives a rough idea of the overall cost of the project, which helps with budgeting purposes.
When it's time to publish a dildo, users have two options: 3D printing or sharing to the gallery.
In the publish section of the site, users can create an .STL file that can be used on most 3D printers.
If users don't have a 3D printer they can still upload their .STL file to an online 3D printing service, which will print and mail the dildo for $3 to $30 depending on its size.
Users can also publish their sex toy to the gallery, giving their creation a name and description, and then prompted to take a screenshot. It’s then added to the gallery for everyone else to see. The gallery entries are sorted by likes and can have their shape loaded into the editor for other people to customize. The result is an open-source system that allows people to collaborate on dildo designs.
