The latest sexual research is good news for women who like smoking weed before getting it on. A new study researched “the effects of marijuana on sexual functioning in women, including libido, arousal, orgasm, and satisfaction.” There aren’t very many current studies on this topic, and according to the study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, “the scientific research is limited.” Finally, science confirms that smoking weed heightens the sexy time experience.
The aim of the study was to “evaluate women’s perceptions of the effect of marijuana use before sexual activity.” Women were given a questionnaire at their gynecologist’s office and asked to complete it anonymously. The study of 373 women of all sexual persuasions reported that 127 said they smoked the magical plant before sex.
Most of the participants smoked it, as opposed to ingesting edibles. “Micro-dosing” is recommended as the way to go, because you can control the dosage. (Sex therapists who recommend pot before sex don’t recommend consuming edibles, because they can get you so high you can experience short term memory loss and forget where your vagina is.)
The study concluded that women reported increases in sex drive, improvement in orgasm, a decrease in pain, and an overall relaxed state of mine. Women reported 2.10 times higher odds of satisfactory orgasms than those with infrequent marijuana use, according to the study. “Marijuana appears to improve satisfaction with orgasm. A better understanding of the role of the endocannabinoid system in women (the ‘pleasure center’ of the nervous system) is important, because there is a paucity of literature, and it could help lead to development of treatments for female sexua satisfaction.”
According to dispensary budtenders, they recommend sativa-dominant hybrid strains for sex, which include Trainwreck, Green Crack, and a strain discovered in San Francisco called Sexxpot.
