LOS ANGELES—Mistress Cyan will be speaking at Occidental College in Los Angeles on Monday, April 2. She’ll be addressing students on the topic of BDSM and covering such issues as consent and power in sexual conduct.
Attendees of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo may be familiar with Mistress Cyan, who is the producer of the Lair at the annual show. Cyan is a nationally known dominatrix, educator, adult performer and leader with more than 25 years in the BDSM community. She has spoken at Stanford University, UCLA, Long Beach State University, Cal State Northridge and Laguna Hills School of Arts.
"Education is very important in dispelling myths concerning what this chosen lifestyle is all about,” said Mistress Cyan. “I enjoy speaking at the colleges and universities on the topic of BDSM and alternative lifestyles. The students I have addressed are not limited to those in the human sexuality field. There is quite an interest from students studying the field of sociology; they are training to become social workers, intake nurses and more. It is important for them to know the difference between consensual kink such as BDSM and abuse. It may save lives someday."
Mistress Cyan runs the BDSM dungeon Sanctuary LAX Studios, and is on the board of the LA Gay Pride Festival as organizer for Erotic City. She is the organizer behind DomCon Los Angeles, coming up May 9-13 at the Hilton LAX.
