LOS ANGELES—Metro Distributors is expanding, and the company is looking for a hard-working, ambitious and experienced industry veteran to fill a new position.
According to the Metro team, it is expanding wholesale operations to distribute nationally via its B2B website and sales reps. Metro has offices in Cranston, R.I., and North Hollywood, Calif., as well as 27 retail stores throughout New England.
According to a company statement, “We are looking for an experienced Marketing/Sales Director to develop, manage and support a team of sales representatives. This candidate will be selling directly to chain stores and distributors throughout the U.S. Some of the responsibilities will encompass our new line of exclusive lingerie, bath and body, and essentials products. You must have a proven successful track record of driving sales while managing a team.
“The Marketing/Sales Director will play a key role in Metro Distributors’ growth and success in wholesale distribution throughout the United States. It is important for this candidate to be a self-starter with the ability to interact with staff at all levels, stay cool under pressure, be flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.”

Responsibilities include developing implementing an annual sales plan for regions and territories, projecting sales volume and profit for existing and new products, and developing and maintaining a sales team.
The position also includes responsibility for a customer service and telemarketing department for the national sales team, oversight of the B2B wholesale website, distribution of marketing materials to promote sale, making decisions about pricing and other sales matters, and participating in trade shows and weekly sales meetings as needed.
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience building and managing a sales team. They should also be organized and self-motivated with a strong customer service background.
Other desired attributes include experience with retail chain account sales, prospecting and lead generation knowledge, leadership and communication skills (both written and oral), and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management tools.
An internet/B2B ecommerce knowledge is preferred but not required. The above outlines some of the responsibilities the person in this position will be exposed to.
