LAS VEGAS—Just in this morning: a missive from the good folks at LELO, who report that the company had an eventful Memorial Day weekend. The LELO U.S. warehouse in Las Vegas suffered not one but two incursions during the holiday as thieves made off with some 30,000 Hex condoms and then doubled down the next day, returning for butt plugs, Kegel exercisers and more.
Both escapades were caught on camera.
The first robbery took place on May 26, at approximately 7:45 p.m. (PDT), after the warehouse closed early for the weekend. Security footage shows two thieves entering through a back gate and exiting with two boxes of Hex condoms (each holds 15,120 individually wrapped condoms). Then, almost immediately, one of the raiders returned for more 36-item packs.
The next day, May 27, at 10.30 a.m. (PDT), the robbing hoods were back, this time ramming a rental car through the loading dock gate. Video footage shows a man running into the warehouse and picking out boxes of toys—some for him, some for her. He first tosses a large box of 33 Hugo Vibrating Butt Plugs—one of LELO’s high-end prostate massagers—through the car’s broken rear window. He then comes back for more: a box of 48 Luna Beads (Kegel exercising aid) and another box of unidentified goods. The sexy toys are valued at up to $219 apiece.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department cruised the scene after both incidents, but were too late to nab the thieves.
According to Pavle Sedic, president of LELO U.S., “At this stage, we’ll be happy if the thieves just use the condoms themselves. We’re currently working with the police to identify those responsible and ask members of the public to get in touch.”
He added, “Two raids in less than 24 hours is pretty shocking, but everyone knows it’s close to impossible to get additional security during Memorial Day weekend and the thieves obviously realized that. They seemed to have a very clear idea on what they were looking for.”
