SAN FRANCISCO—Adult retailer Good Vibrations has acquired its newest store, the former Camouflage adult boutique in Santa Cruz, Calif.
"Good Vibrations has been a friend and a partner of Camouflage for a long time,” said Camouflage owner Ken Vinson. “I am thrilled to be able to pass the torch to such an organization for whom we have so much respect. I know they will carry on Camouflage's mission of sex positivity and continue to be a great resource for Santa Cruz for many years to come."
Camouflage has been a retail fixture in downtown Santa Cruz for 36 years and owned and operated by Ken Vinson and his late wife, Shannon Collins, since 2006. Camouflage is known as the fun friendly and “positively sexy place to buy lingerie and sexy costumes, and showcase a selection of sex toys in its smaller back room. The busiest time of year for the boutique is Burning Man and Halloween, and their fun selection of products has brought exploring and curious folks in since the original owner, Joan Levine, opened the doors back in 1980.
"When Ken reached out to us, it seemed like a natural fit and we are happy to keep Camouflage thriving in such a wonderful community for years to come,” said Good Vibrations' Executive Vice President Jackie Rednour-Bruckman. “While part of the Good Vibrations family, Camouflage will continue to run independently and retain its unique and playful spirit. Longtime staff are still at the helm to help provide a fun and sexy place along Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz, Calif.”
For almost four decade, Good Vibrations has provided high quality products, sex-positive education and information that promotes sexual health, pleasure and empowerment throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The adult retailer invented the concept of the clean, well-lighted vibrator store and provides a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where customers can shop for sex toys, books and movies, as well as attend workshops.
