LAS VEGAS—Sin City Gallery celebrated its grand opening with a 20-year retrospective from internationally acclaimed photographer Steve Diet Goedde on Feb. 4. Friday's event attracted art buyers from all over the country to the gallery's inaugural exhibition.
Sin City Gallery also hosted an intimate Q&A with Goedde on Saturday, Feb. 5, so that collectors of his work could gain insight into his subtly erotic approach to photographing alternative fashion. The weekend’s festivities provided fans with a rare opportunity to meet the artist and learn about his his techniques and artistic vision.
Gallery owner Laura Henkel said, "We have received such an incredible positive reaction to the opening of Sin City Gallery from collectors and artists all over the world. We felt extremely honored to have Steve present as our first exhibition. Thankfully, we had several ultra-chromium ink and hand-developed silver gelatin prints to meet the demands of collectors present. People simply love his work!"
Sin City Gallery Manager Lou Lou Roxy also commented, "Not only are people contacting us for Steve’s work, we have had numerous online and telephone sales for Francois Dubeau, Ross Johnston and Bobby Logic due to all the media attention. People seem to enjoy our website. Many were not able to attend the exhibition in person due to poor weather in other parts of the country, yet they really want Steve’s work. We have been communicating with buyers by phone, Internet and Skype.”
Henkel is currently gracing the cover of Las Vegas Night Beat magazine, showing her support for the annual Cherry Poppin' Red Dress Ball—a benefit for the Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and its community HIV/AIDS programs.
Steve Diet Goedde's "Dream Menagerie" exhibit runs until Feb. 26. Visit SinCityGallery.com for details, or call (702) 608-2461. The gallery is located at 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 100, Las Vegas.
